Historically, Envato’s strategy and quality teams have set prices on our creative marketplaces.

Last year we introduced a new flexible pricing approach on our graphic marketplace, GraphicRiver, allowing sellers to set prices they choose for their work.

Starting today we are rolling that pricing model out on ThemeForest, our largest marketplace, across the following categories: HTML, Muse, Marketing, PSD, Sketch and Courses.

Why we’re excited

We’ve always been about helping creative producers earn a living doing what they love, by connecting them to millions of customers searching for assets to bring their ideas and projects to life.

We think it’s important that those creators be able to control as many decisions as possible about their work and their business, and that they’re free to respond to customer needs and trends in the industry as a whole.

Our CEO Collis Ta’eed says he’s excited to see what content creators everywhere do with their newfound flexibility.

“Since 2006 we’ve been iterating on our marketplace platform,” he said.

“Giving our worldwide community of creators more power over how their work is presented and sold fosters entrepreneurship and opens up the market to new types of content.”

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the new pricing model and will look closely at the results for both creators and customers before we take any further steps.

If you’ve been considering becoming a seller on Envato but haven’t yet taken the plunge, now could be the perfect time. We invite you to check it out and let us know what you think.
